    • info<p>Rabbi Elazar Abuhatzeira also known as Baba Elazar (9 August 1948 – 28 July 2011) was an Orthodox Sefardi rabbi and kabbalist in Israel.</p> <h3>biography</h3> <p>He was born in Rissani, Morocco to Rabbi Meir (the "Baba Meir") and Simcha Abuhatzeira, was the grandson of the Baba Sali, Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzeira, and the brother of Rabbi David Chai Abuhatzeira of Nahariya.</p> <p>. At a young age, he was orphaned by his mother. Studied at "Tomchi Temimim" Yeshiva in Casablanca for about a year. In Adar 1966, he immigrated to Israel with his father, and the family settled in Ashdod</p> <p>After his aliyah to Israel in 1966 and studied at the Porat Yosef Yeshiva with Rabbi Avraham Hafuta, who was an associate of his grandfather Baba Sally, . He later moved to Beersheba where he ran a yeshiva. Besides his reputation as a leading kabbalist, Abuhatzeira was known for his work and influence with business and political leaders and had a following as a spiritual leader. In 2011 he had estimated assets of million.</p> <p>Abuhatzeira was known for wearing a cloak whose long hood covered most of his face, reportedly to shield him from glancing at immodestly dressed women. He had a tunnel dug between his home and his yeshiva where he received people.</p> <p>Many came to receive his advice or blessing, including Ashkenazis and Sephardim, commoners, and politicians. His followers contributed to the establishment of his court generously, and over the years he amassed a large fortune. In 2011, TheMarker estimated his fortune at about $ 80 million. He owned a large kollel of avrechim in Be'er Sheva, and a tavern, according to his followers, behaved personally with asceticism.</p> <p>In 2003, following an investigative article conducted by the Haaretz newspaper, Rabbi Abuhatzira was sued by the Tax Authority to transfer NIS 100 million to the state treasury, as a tax on donations he received from his followers. As part of a compromise, it was agreed that he would donate NIS 20 million to voluntary institutions, as a substitute for the tax required to be paid.</p> <p>Rabbi Abuhatzira was married to Deborah and a father of seven.</p> <p>May the merit of Rabbi Elazar Abuhatzeira protect us all.       • notes<p style="text-align: right;">הרב אלעזר אבוחצירא (כונה בבא אלעזר; 9 באוגוסט 1948, ד' באב ה'תש"ח - 29 ביולי 2011, כ"ז בתמוז ה'תשע"א) היה רב ומקובל. נצר למשפחת אבוחצירא, בנו של רבי מאיר אבוחצירא ונכדו של הבאבא סאלי. נחשב על ידי חסידיו למומחה בקבלה מעשית ולבעל סגולות. נרצח על ידי אחד ממבקשי עצתו.</p> <h3 style="text-align: right;">ביוגרפיה</h3> <p style="text-align: right;">נולד בעיר ריסאני, מחוז תפילאלת שבמרוקו, לרבי מאיר (ה"בבא מאיר") ולשמחה אבוחצירא. בגיל צעיר התייתם מאמו. למד בישיבת תומכי תמימים בקזבלנקה במשך כשנה. באדר תשכ"ו (1966) עלה לישראל עם אביו והמשפחה התיישבה באשדוד.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">לאחר עלייתו למד בישיבת הרמב"ם שבתל אביב אצל הרב אברהם חפוטא שהיה מקורבו של סבו הבאבא סאלי ובישיבת פורת יוסף.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">לאחר פטירתו של הבאבא סאלי הקים חצר בבאר שבע ברחוב קפריסין. במקביל אליו קיבלו אדמו"רות גם אחיו, הרב דוד חי אבוחצירא, שביסס את חצרו בנהריה שבצפון, ודודו, הרב ברוך אבוחצירא, שבנה את ביתו בנתיבות. הרב אלעזר גר בבית שמנהרה מוליכה ממנו אל בית הכנסת, ובעשרות השנים האחרונות יצא מביתו פעמים בודדות בלבד. את דרכו יוצאת הדופן בפרישות מאירועים ציבוריים קיבל מאביו, שנהג כך בשבתו באשדוד.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">רבים באו לקבל את עצתו או ברכתו, בהם אשכנזים וספרדים, פשוטי עם ופוליטיקאים. חסידיו תרמו לביסוס חצרו ביד רחבה, ועם השנים הוא צבר הון רב. ב-2011 העריך העיתון TheMarker את הונו בכ-80 מיליון דולר. הוא החזיק כולל גדול של אברכים בבאר-שבע, ובית תמחוי, לדברי חסידיו, התנהג באופן אישי בסגפנות.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בשנת 2003, בעקבות כתבת תחקיר שערך העיתון "הארץ", נתבע הרב אבוחצירא על ידי רשות המיסים להעביר לקופת המדינה סכום של 100 מיליון ש"ח, כמס על תרומות שקיבל מחסידיו. הוא סירב, בטענה שהכספים מיועדים לבניית קרייה חינוכית ותורנית ולא לצרכיו האישיים. במסגרת פשרה הוסכם שיתרום 20 מיליון ש"ח למוסדות התנדבותיים, כתחליף למס שנדרש לשלם.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בשנת 2010 נטען בתוכנית התחקירים "שומר מסך" שהרב אבוחצירא קיבל תרומות מאנשים שונים תוך שימוש באיומים וקללות. עורכי דינו של הרב אבוחצירא ניסו למנוע את שידור התוכנית. בסופו של דבר התוכנית שודרה כרגיל, אך הוזמן אליה גם פרקליטו של הרב אבוחצירא שטען בתגובה כי מדובר בחומר שרובו הגדול מלפני שנים רבות, שנבדק על ידי הרשויות השונות ונמצא כלא מבוסס.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">הרב אבוחצירא היה נשוי לדבורה ואב לשבעה.</p> <h3 style="text-align: right;">רציחתו</h3> <p style="text-align: right;">בליל ה-29 ביולי 2011 נרצח הרב אבוחצירא בדקירות סכין בידי אשר דהן, תושב אלעד בן 42, שנהג לקבל מהרב אבוחצירא ברכה וייעוץ. הוא רצח אותו בזמן קבלת קהל, בעת שהרב אבוחצירא קרא פתק שעליו נרשמה בקשתו של דהן. דהן נמצא תחילה בלתי כשיר לעמוד לדין, אך הועמד לבסוף למשפט, הורשע בינואר 2014 ונידון למאסר עולם. לפי כתב האישום, החליט דהן לרצוח את הרב משום שהמליץ לו שלא לגרש את אשתו. ערעורו על פסק הדין נדחה ביוני 2019.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">מסע הלוויה של הרב אבוחצירא החל מבית מדרשו בבאר שבע, משם הוסעה המיטה לישיבת פורת יוסף בירושלים, ומשם יצאה הלוויתו בהשתתפות רבבות בני אדם. הוא נקבר בבית הקברות בהר הזיתים, בסמוך לקברו של אביו. בהלוויתו הוכתר בנו הבכור הרב פנחס אבוחצירא לממשיך דרכו.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">עיתון יום ליום של מפלגת ש"ס הוציא מוסף מיוחד לזכרו בשם "נסתר וקדוש" עם תום ימי השבעה.</p> <p style="text-align: right;">בתום ימי השבעה, לקראת תשעה באב תשע"א, כתב הרב הראשי לישראל שלמה משה עמאר קינה לזכרו בנוסח קינות לתשעה באב</p> <p style="text-align: right;">זכותו תגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל, אמן</p>
