He died two months later. He had three sons: Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Schneersohn (1830–1900), oldest son of Rabbi Yehuda Leib, assumed his father's position in Kopust. He is the author of a work on Hasidism titled "Magen Avot" ("Shield of the Fathers"). Rabbi Shalom Dovber Schneersohn of Rechitsa (died 1908), known as the Rashab of Rechitsa. Succeeding his brother, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman, Rabbi Shalom Dovber served as the Kopuster movement's rebbe in the town of Rechitsa. Rabbi Shalom Dovber seems to have died without a successor. Rabbi Shmaryahu Noah Schneersohn (1842–1924), known as Shmaryahu Noah of Babruysk. Succeeding his brother, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman, Rabbi Shmaryahu Noah served as the Kopuster movement's rebbe in the town of Babruysk.[ He was rav of the chasidim in Babruysk from 1872, and founded a yeshiva there in 1901. He authored a two volume work on Hasidism, titled "Shemen LaMaor" ("Light for the Luminary"). May the merit of the tzadik Rabbi Yehuda Leib Schneerson protect us all. Amen

 textרבי יהודה לייב שניאורסון (1808–1866, המהרי"ל מקאפוסט) האדמו"ר מקאפוסט, הוא בנו של הצמח צדק, רבי מנחם מנדל שניאורסון, האדמו"ר השלישי של חב"ד. <h3 style="text-align:right">חייו</h3> נולד בשנת תקס"ח (1808). הוא היה בנו השני של ה'צמח צדק'. אבי סבו, רבי שניאור זלמן מליאדי, מייסד חסידות חב"ד ובעל התניא היה הסנדק שלו. מילדותו התקשר לסבו, רבי דובער שניאורי (שכונה "אדמו"ר האמצעי"), ולמד אצלו. סבו חיבב אותו מאד, נהג להמתין לו לאמירת מאמרי חסידות והיה מכנה אותו "מיין סטענדער" (=הסטענדר שלי), כי היה נשען עליו כשהיה אומר חסידות. בי"ד חשוון תקפ"ה (1824) נשא לאשה את בתו של החסיד ר' שלמה פריידעס משקלוב, מגדולי חסידי חב"ד להם נולדו: שלמה זלמן שניאורסון ושלום דובער שניאורסון (מרציצה). אשתו השנייה שמה שרה ולהם נולדו: שמריהו נח שניאורסון ורחל מוניסזון. חודשיים לאחר פטירת אביו הצמח צדק, התיישב בעיר קאפוסט השוכנת דרומית לוויטבסק (היום בבלארוס), והחל לנהוג שם בנשיאות. מהרי"ל היה הבן המבוגר ביותר שהסכים לנהוג באדמור"ות ואף בחיי אביו נהג באדמור"ות, ולכן נהרו אליו מרבית החסידים. עם זאת, בית דין שהוקם כדי לדון בשאלת יורשו של ה"צמח צדק", פסק כי המהר"ש, רבי שמואל שניאורסון הוא זה שאמור למלא את מקום אביו. בשמחת תורה תרכ"ז (1866) חלה, ונפטר ביום ג' חשוון באותה שנה. נקבר בעיר קאפוסט. את מקומו מילא בנו, רבי שלמה זלמן שניאורסון בעל ה"מגן אבות" מקאפוסט. בפרויקט היכל הנגינה (ניגוני חב"ד) מופיעים שני ניגונים שלו זכותו תגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל, אמן
