 infoRabbi Chaim Meir Hager, who had been revered as Vizhnitzer Rebbe for 35 years, passed away in Eretz Yisrael on the Thursday night before Pesach, 5732. On the following day, an estimated 50,000 mourners accompanied his aron to its final resting place. He had a huge following, including the thousands of settlers of Shikun Vizhnitz, and the hundreds of students of the Vizhnitzer Yeshiva, both in Bnei Brak; he was a member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah (Council of Torah Sages) of the Agudath Israel of Eretz Yisrael; he was the scion of a noble Chassidic dynasty; but, perhaps equal to all of these elements, his personal warmth, the majesty of his tisch, and the triumph of joy over adversity that he personified, won him vast admiration beyond the confines of any one group. May the merit of the tzaddik Rabbi Chaim Meir Hager protect us all, Amen.

 textהרב חיים מאיר הגר (אמרי חיים) (ט"ו בכסלו, ה'תרמ"ח 1887 - ט' בניסן ה'תשל"ב 1972), בעל "האמרי חיים", האדמו"ר ה-6 לשושלת החסידית קוסוב-ויז'ניץ. היה ממנהיגי היהדות חרדית, חבר מועצת גדולי התורה של אגודת ישראל וממנווטי דרכה. נולד לרבי ישראל הגר (אהבת ישראל) האדמו"ר מויז'ניץ בויז'ניץ. נקרא חיים מאיר על שם סבו רבי חיים מקוסוב (התורת חיים) וסבו רבי מאיר מדז'יקוב. במלחמת העולם הראשונה עקר עם אביו לגרויסוורדיין (אורדאה) ברומניה. בשנת תרצ"ו (1936) אחר פטירת אביו, הוכתר לממלא מקומו כאדמו"ר מויז'ניץ בעיר גרויסוורדיין (אורדאה). עם פלישת הנאצים בשנת תש"ד (1944), להונגריה, הועברו יהודי גרויסוורדיין לגטו, יחד עם הרב הגר. אולם הוא הצליח להמלט מהגטו לרומניה זמן קצר לפני השילוח לאושוויץ. עם סיום מלחמת העולם השנייה, חזר הרב הגר לעיר גרויסוורדיין, והמשיך לכהן בה כאדמו"ר. זמן קצר לאחר מכן עלה לארץ ישראל והקים את שיכון ויז'ניץ בבני ברק. נפטר בט' ניסן תשל"ב (1972) ונטמן בחלקת-ויז'ניץ בבית העלמין שומרי-שבת בבני ברק. דברי תורתו נאספו בסדרת הספרים "אמרי חיים" ו"ליקוטי אמרי חיים". דעו נא רבותי שהגזירה הנוראה היא על כל כלל ישראל, ואין ח"ו לאף אחד לשטות את עצמו ואת סביבתו ולומר כי הגזירה יצאה ללהב רק על ראש יהודי פולין וכדומה, לא ולא! על כולנו מרחפת הגזירה הקשה, והרשעים הארורים לפי שעה המציאו להם תירוץ זה לגרש לעת עתה רק חלק מבני ישראל, ואחר כך יתחכמו ח"ו לעמוד על כולנו, השי"ת יצילנו מידם הרשעה. והנה אם הגזירה היא על כלל ישראל ח"ו, אנו צריכים להתאמץ מאד מאד בכל כוחנו להעביר את רוע הגזירה ולהעביר את רעת הרשעים ואת מחשבתם אשר חשבו על היהודים, להפר עצת אויבינו על ידי תשובה ותפילה וצדקה"... מתוך נאום חוצב להבות אש שנשא כ"ק האדמו"ר רבי חיים מאיר מויז'ניץ זצ"ל בראשית ימי המלחמה, בבית מדרשו בגרוסוורדיין זכותו תגן עלינו ועל כל עם ישראל, אמן.
