 info<h3>Biography</h3> He was born on 7 September 1934, in Antwerp, Belgium to his parents, Shlomo and Frumit. After surviving World War II while hiding out in France, he moved to Palestine together with his family. He became the rabbinical leader of the Toldos Aharon Hasidic movement, based in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Meah Shearim. When Toldos Aharon's previous rebbe died, he joined the split-off group named Toldos Avraham Yitzchok. He was highly respected and eulogized by both groups upon his death. The position of rabbinical leader in a Hasidic dynasty is not identical to that of rebbe: the rebbe is the spiritual leader, while the rabbinical leader - rabbi - is the halachic expert, who leads the group in questions of Jewish law. While in some Hasidic groups the rebbe also fulfills the position of rabbinical leader, in other groups this position is separate. He died suddenly at his home in Jerusalem on 13 May 2009, at the age of 74 from cardiovascular disease and was buried on the Mount of Olives near the grave of the rebbe of Toldos Aharon. His maternal grandfather was R. Yissachar Shlomo Teichtal, author of Eim HaBanim Semeicha. May the merit of Rabbi Meir Brandsdorfer protect us all. Amen

 text<h3 style="text-align:right">ביוגרפיה</h3> נולד באנטוורפן שבבלגיה לרבי שלמה ולפרומט בת הרב ישכר שלמה טייכטל, בעל "שו"ת משנה שכיר" ו"אם הבנים שמחה". עם כיבוש בלגיה על ידי גרמניה הנאצית, באייר ה'ת"ש (מאי 1940), ברחה משפחתו לצרפת. בעת הגעתם לפריז הוברר כי מאיר לקה בשחפת. הוא נשלח למרכז רפואי בשווייץ שהתמחה בטיפול במחלה, שם שהה תשעה חודשים ולאחר מכן חזר למשפחתו בצרפת. בשנת ה'תש"ה - (1945), עלה לישראל עם הוריו, ששוכנו בתחילה במחנה המעצר בעתלית. משם עברה המשפחה לקיבוץ חפץ חיים. בשנת ה'תש"ו עברה המשפחה לשכונת בתי אונגרין שבירושלים, שם התקרב אביו לרבי אהרן ראטה. הרב ראטה קירב גם את מאיר הצעיר ובגיל שתים עשרה אמר כי "עתיד ילד זה להאיר עיניהם של ישראל בירושלים עיר הקודש". עם פטירתו של רבי אהרן והתפלגותה של חבורת שומרי אמונים, הצטרף אביו לחסידות תולדות אהרן. לאחר גיל בר מצווה החל ללמוד בישיבת בית יוסף צבי דושינסקיא. כחברותא שימש לו הרב משה הלברשטאם, עמו נסמך להוראה בשנת ה'תש"ך על ידי הרב פנחס אפשטיין, ראב"ד "העדה החרדית". לאחר מכן למדו השניים בצוותא בישיבת בית אברהם של חסידות סלונים. נישא לברכה בת הרב שמעון דב קרישבסקי, מזכיר בית היתומים דיסקין ומזכירו של ד"ר משה וולך. לאחר נישואיו למד בישיבת מיר, בחבורה של הרב משה יהושע לנדא והרב מנדל אטיק, ובהמשך בכולל תרביצ"א של חסידות דושינסקיא, שבו השלים את לימודי הרבנות והדיינות. רבותיו בפסיקת הלכה, שאף סמכוהו להוראה, היו הרב משה אריה פריינד, הרב שמואל הלוי וואזנר והרב יששכר דב גולדשטיין ראש כולל שומרי החומות. רבו המובהק היה הרב אברהם הערש כהן. התכתב רבות עם הרב שלמה זלמן אוירבך. במקביל לתפקידו כרב קהילת תולדות אברהם יצחק נהג להגיע להרב יעקב אריה מיליקובסקי אותו החשיב לרבו. זכותו תגן עלינו ועל כל ישראל, אמן.
